As a Software Engineer II, you’ll work alongside world‑class scientists and engineers to design, build, and scale the platforms that power Copilot. This role offers hands-on impact across the full lifecycle—from foundational infrastructure to user-facing capabilities—on one of Microsoft’s highest‑visibility AI products.
Responsibilities
Work closely with applied scientists and engineers on designing and building both backend platform capabilities and core Copilot scenarios aimed at delighting our customers.
Design and deliver scalable, high-performance features that power next-generation AI experiences.
Define architecture, implementation plans, ensure robustness and solid test coverage, and improve processes to contribute to our best practices.
Qualifications
Minimum
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
Preferred
Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
1+ years industry experience with one or more of the following: Artificial Intelligence, Distributed Systems, Information Retrieval and/or Data Mining.
Ability and effectiveness working end-to-end in a technical problem domain (plan, design, execution, continuous release and service operation).
Experience in software engineering fundamentals, including coding, problem solving and data analysis skills.
