The Integrity team, within Applied Engineering, safeguards our platform by proactively identifying misuse, preventing abuse, and protecting users. We're seeking an experienced, hands-on Engineering Manager (Web Safety) to shape the future direction, architect advanced system protections, and lead a focused team of senior Machine Learning Engineers (MLEs).

Responsibilities

- Architect and build next-generation system protections, directly contributing through hands-on design, model training, and deployment strategies.

- Lead and manage a small, senior team of Machine Learning Engineers, empowering them with clear direction and autonomy.

- Collaborate closely with Research, Safety, Product, and Policy teams to leverage existing tools and drive cutting-edge advancements.

- Utilize state-of-the-art models to detect and prevent problematic content effectively.

- Establish robust evaluation frameworks and metrics, clearly measuring progress and identifying areas for improvement.

- Support your team's professional growth and maintain high performance through mentorship and clear career progression.

Qualifications

Minimum

- Bring extensive hands-on experience managing machine learning teams, ideally in web safety, content integrity, or related domains.

- Have successfully trained, fine-tuned, or distilled LLMs and traditional ML models to solve real-world business problems.

- Enjoy being deeply involved technically—actively designing solutions, training models, and guiding deployment processes alongside your team.

- Excel at collaborating across teams to integrate existing tools and thoughtfully architect new solutions.

- Possess strong emotional intelligence, empathy, and the ability to effectively connect with colleagues.

- Embrace ambiguity and rapidly changing circumstances as opportunities to create clarity, structure, and impactful solutions.

Preferred
