Led the Oslo Center for Biostatistics and Epidemiology (OCBE) and the research-based innovation center BigInsight, a consortium of industry, business, public institutions, and academia, developing model-based machine learning methodologies for big data. Supervised over 40 PhD students and many postdocs.
Education
Mathematical background, has been a professor of statistics at the Oslo Center for Biostatistics and Epidemiology since 2003. Has worked at Oslo University Hospital, the Norwegian Computing Center, the University of Roma III, the University of Venice, and IAC at the Italian Research Council in Rome.
Background
Research interests include statistical machine learning, developing stochastic models and machine learning algorithms. He is currently the director of the knowledge-driven machine learning center Integreat, funded by the Research Council of Norway, the University of Oslo, the University of Tromsø, and the Norwegian Computing Center.
