Showed that the symbolic process model outperforms traditional and parametric fMRI analysis methods; located working memory updates and declarative retrievals within the fronto-parietal network.
Research Experience
Used a symbolic process model for model-based fMRI analysis; applied this method to five previously published datasets; collaborated with John Anderson to use Hidden Markov Models in combination with multivariate pattern analysis to automatically discover cognitive processing stages in EEG data.
Education
PhD student in the Department of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Groningen until 2011, supervised by Niels Taatgen and Hedderik van Rijn.
Background
Associate Professor in Computational Cognitive Neuroscience, with a main research interest in developing and improving analysis methods that connect computational (cognitive) models to neuroimaging data.
Miscellany
Currently advising one postdoc, Gabriel Weindel, and five PhD candidates: Ram Eshwar Kaundinya, Moritz Held, Joshua Krause, Yuanyuan Weng, Yiyue Zhang.
