Resume
Academic Achievements
  • Received the Automatica Paper Prize Award 2023 at the IFAC World Congress 2023; invited as a plenary speaker at the 13th IFAC Symposium on Nonlinear Control Systems (NOLCOS 2025); published multiple papers on model predictive control, safety shell architecture, projection-based integrators, constraint-adaptive MPC, event-triggered control, and more.
Research Experience
  • Working closely with students and staff, we tackle challenging research projects at the frontier of science in cooperation with our international academic community and industrial partners. Specific applications include hyperthermia treatments to improve the efficacy of cancer therapies, large-scale control and optimization for precision agriculture, thermal control and nuclear fusion reactors (tokamaks), automated and cooperative driving, and hybrid control for the high-tech industry.
Background
  • Research interests include general system and control theory, with a focus on hybrid systems that exhibit both discrete and continuous dynamics, networked and large-scale systems, and optimization-based control techniques. Particular emphasis is placed on developing the foundations of multi-disciplinary design techniques, including cyber-physical systems, optimization-based control (such as MPC), resource-aware control strategies, (wireless) networked control systems, and switching and hybrid motion control.
