Academic Achievements
- 1. Research Project: Sample-efficient learning of object representations from audio
- 2. Research Project: Synthesis and perception of Rigid-Body Contact sounds (Auditory intuitive physics)
- 3. Presented novel state-of-the-art models for perceptually relevant synthesis of scraping and rolling sounds at DAFx 2021, and conducted psychophysics experiments to validate their superiority.
Research Experience
- 1. Summer 2023: Worked with the audio presence team at Meta Reality Labs Research to augment spatial audio rendering on smart glasses and develop models of online sound synthesis.
- 2. Collaborated with Dr. Mitsuko Aramaki and Dr. Richard Kronland-Martinet at Laboratoire de Mecanique et d’Acoustique (LMA), CNRS, Marseille, France, on the SoniMove project.
- 3. Worked with Prof. Arne Eigenfeldt at Simon Fraser University on automatic song transcription.
Education
- 1. PhD Candidate, Mechanical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Advisor: Prof. Josh McDermott
- 2. BTech & MTech in Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), Focus on Acoustics and Automation, Master's Thesis Advisor: Prof. Sripriya Ramamoorthy
Background
- PhD candidate at MIT MechE, working with Prof. Josh McDermott in the Laboratory for Computational Audition. My research aims at understanding how physical generative processes assist humans and artificial agents in making rich inferences about the world using sound. More broadly, I am interested in the physics underlying natural and musical sound prediction and how humans are able to make rich inferences from the sounds they hear.
Miscellany
- Semi-professional Indian classical musician and Mohan Veena artist
