Recently received the NSERC Discovery Grant (DG) for a period of five years; published multiple papers in journals like IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, IEEE Internet of Things Journal, ACM Distributed Ledger Technologies Journal, and won the Best Paper Award at IEEE DAPPS 2020 conference.
Research Experience
Previously, a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at York University under the supervision of Prof. Sotirios Liaskos. Before coming to ETS Montreal, worked with Prof. Marios Lestas as a research assistant under the Erasmus+ mobility project at Frederick University, Cyprus.
Education
Received Ph.D. from the Département de génie logiciel et des TI at the University ETS Montreal, Quebec, in August 2022, with Prof. Kaiwen Zhang as advisor and Prof. Hans-Arno Jacobsen as co-advisor.
Background
Currently employed as an Assistant Professor at Algoma University. Research interests include developing strategies to expand the integration of renewable energy sources and electric vehicles into the existing energy grid, providing solutions for the efficient use of energy infrastructure, and integrating blockchain networks. Recently, also started working on reducing the energy consumption of generative AI models, such as large language models (LLMs).

Hometown is Rawalpindi, Pakistan; currently looking for Master's thesis students to work on projects related to renewable energy trading and green LLM inference. Students with a background in optimization and AI are encouraged to apply.
