Academic Achievements
Co-author of the post-quantum secure CRYSTALS-Kyber key encapsulation mechanism, which has been selected by NIST for standardization; submitter of four PQC algorithm submissions (HAWK, FrodoKEM, Kyber, New Hope), with Kyber being selected as the recommended key encapsulation mechanism and renamed to ML-KEM; received multiple awards including the IACR Test-of-Time Award 2025, Internet 2024 award from ISOC Belgium, and the best paper award at CHES 2016; served on various program committees.
Research Experience
Currently a cryptographic researcher in the competence center crypto & security at NXP Semiconductors, Leuven, Belgium, where he is the technical lead of the Post-Quantum Cryptography team and the manager of the Crypto Concepts team. Previously, he was a post-doctoral researcher in the Cryptography Research Group at Microsoft Research, Redmond, USA.
Education
PhD obtained in 2012 from the Laboratory for Cryptologic Algorithms at EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland, under the supervision of Prof. Arjen Lenstra.
