Resume (English only)
Academic Achievements
  • His research has been published in various leading peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. He is also an inventor on two patents. Dr Badiu regularly serves as a reviewer for various IEEE journals and conferences in the fields of communications, signal processing, and information theory. He is a Member of the IEEE and an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA).
Research Experience
  • He is currently a Senior Research Associate in Information and Communication Theory with the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford. He is also a Lecturer in Engineering Science at Balliol College, where he teaches tutorials on various topics in mathematics and electrical engineering. He is involved in the 'Probabilistic Tomography of Wireless Networks' project, developing optimal methods of actively discovering or passively inferring network topologies and structures in wireless systems.
Education
  • Before moving to Oxford in 2019, he held positions as a Postdoctoral Researcher and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronic Systems at Aalborg University, Denmark. From 2016 to 2018, Dr Badiu held an Individual Postdoctoral Fellowship which is a highly competitive grant awarded by the Danish Council for Independent Research.
Background
  • His general research interests are in information and communication theory, random graphs, signal processing for communications, and probabilistic modelling & inference. Specific topics of interest include inference of wireless networks, complexity and compression of random graphs, value of information, reflective intelligent surfaces, and message-passing inference on graphs.
