Academic Achievements
Secured grants including £20,000 from The Alan Turing Institute Centre for Emerging Technology and Security (CeTAs) and £25,000 from NW Cybercom. Successfully delivered a knowledge transfer project with Jersey Finance / Grant Thornton worth £10,000. Serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics and the International Journal of Information and Communication Sciences. Reviewer for several AI and data science publications like IEEE Access, IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine, etc. His paper “Sentiment Aware Fake News Detection on Online Social Networks” was nominated for the best student paper award at the IEEE ICASSP 2019.
Research Experience
Principal investigator of the SMEDIS project, collaborating with the Northern Care Alliance and the University of Manchester NHS. Also a co-investigator on projects such as NW CyberCom - Generative-AI Assistant for Enhanced Security and Privacy in Healthcare, Privacy-Preserving Moderation of Illegal Online Content (The Alan Turing Institute), and Grant Thornton knowledge transfer – Emerging AI technologies in Financial Services.
Education
Received his PhD in content-aware location inference and misinformation in online social networks from Sheffield Hallam University in 2019. Obtained an MSc in Computing with web technologies from the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland, in 2013.
