Was a member of the Image Processing Group at UPM (1993-2002); served as an associate professor at UPM (1997-2002); since 2003, has been a full professor at the Autonomous University of Madrid and co-directs the Video Processing and Understanding Lab.

Graduated from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) in Telecommunication Engineering in 1993; obtained a PhD from the same university in 2001.

Research interests include video sequence analysis, content-based video indexing, 2D and 3D computer vision, etc. Has played significant roles in multiple European projects.
