Leads the research project 'Operations Research and AI for Airline Operations' with KLM, aimed at supporting airlines in making better strategic and tactical decisions using data-driven methods. Several UT students have completed thesis internships at KLM, studying topics such as hand luggage demand prediction and mitigating measures to prevent gate delays.
Research Experience
Assistant Professor at the Industrial Engineering and Business Information Systems section of the University of Twente. Leads the 'Operations Research and AI for Airline Operations' project with KLM, supervising PhD students Antonio Montaruli and Mahekha Dahanayaka. Was a visiting researcher at TU Munich until 2021, working on data-driven inventory management in dynamic supply chains.

MSc in Operations Research (2014), Research MSc in Economics & Business (2014), and PhD (2019) from the University of Groningen.

Coordinates the Minor Aerospace Management & Operations, teaches various components of that Minor, as well as part of the Minor Aircraft Engineering. Teaches Advanced Inventory Management, tutors the serious business game 'Fresh Connection', and supervises BSc and MSc graduation projects on inventory management, demand forecasting, aviation, and logistics.
