Worked with Miguel Hernán, Jamie Robins, and other excellent researchers at Harvard School of Public Health as a Kolokotrones Research Fellow and Fulbright Research Scholar. Also had the pleasure of being a part-time postdoctoral researcher under supervision of Kjetil Røysland and Odd Aalen at the University of Oslo. Before becoming a full-time academic, had a short career as a resident doctor in internal medicine.
Education
Received MD, Dr.Philos in Neuroscience, and BSc in Mathematics from the University of Oslo; Msc in Statistics from the University of Oxford.
Background
MD and associate professor at the Institute of Mathematics, EPFL, where I hold the Chair of Biostatistics (since 2020) and serve as director of the doctoral program in mathematics (since 2025). I develop causal and statistical methodology with two main goals: make the target of inference scientifically meaningful, and keep assumptions transparent and testable. I am particularly interested in settings where exposures and outcomes evolve over time (longitudinal and time-to-event data). Many of my works are inspired by applications in clinical medicine and epidemiology.
Miscellany
Regularly have openings for postdocs with expertise in statistics and causal inference. If interested, don’t hesitate to contact me by email.
