Academic Achievements
He is the main author of many publications in CP, including one of the most cited papers in the community, which describes the All-Different global constraint. This paper, published in 1994, received the 'Classical Paper Award' from the American Association on Artificial Intelligence in 2013. In 2013, he received the Research Excellence Award from the Constraint Programming Association (ACP) for both his theoretical and practical contributions. In 2022, he received the Artificial Intelligence Journal (AIJ) Classic Paper Award for developing a famous filtering arc-consistency algorithm for Table constraints.
Research Experience
Immediately after his PhD, he was hired by ILOG, where he was the Director of Constraint Programming from 2001. In 2005, he spent 7 months in the Computer Science Department (IISI Institute) at Cornell University. After ILOG was bought by IBM in 2008, he left ILOG in October 2008 and joined the Université Nice-Sophia Antipolis as an Invited Professor at the Ecole Polytech' Nice-Sophia Antipolis for one year. Since September 2009, he has been a full Professor at the Université Nice-Sophia Antipolis (renamed Université Côte d'Azur in 2019). He is the Head of the C&A (Constraints and Application) team of the I3S.
Education
Received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Montpellier II in 1995. Defended his 'Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches' at the Université Nice-Sophia Antipolis in November 2004.
