Academic Achievements
  • Our paper titled “Adaptive Retrieval-Augmented Generation for Conversational Systems” got accepted in NAACL (Findings) 2025. This is a joint effort with Xi Wang, Li Ruizhe, and Emine Yilmaz. My PhD. Student Lingfang Li’s work titled “Unraveling the Influence of Training Data and Internal Structures in Large Language Models for Enhanced Explainability” got accepted in AAAI 2025 Student Workshop.

  • Before joining UOL, I worked with Emine Yilmaz as a postdoctoral researcher in the Web Intelligence Group at University College London (UCL).
Education
  • I finished my PhD. in 2021 from Dublin City University, Ireland. My PhD. supervisor was Gareth J.F. Jones. I was affiliated with ADAPT centre Ireland during my PhD.
Background
  • I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the Department of Computer Science at University of Liverpool (UOL), United Kingdom. I am part of the Natural Language Processing group at UOL. My work primarily lies at the intersection of Information Retrieval (IR), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Machine Learning (ML). More specifically, I am interested in developing socially responsible intelligent systems.

  • I will be visiting Nokia Bell Labs Cambridge this summer. This year we will be virtually hosting NLP for Social Good Symposium on 25th and 26th June.
