Contributed to the development of open-source software such as Plastimatch, 3D Slicer, SlicerRT, ITK, and SimpleITK; Grants won include a PNNR Next Generation EU project, the 'European Association for Cancer Research (EACR) Travel Fellowship 2019', the 'Nvidia grant 2018', and the 'Amazon Web Services Research Grant 2014'; Reviewer for several international peer-reviewed journals in the field; Member of the National Alliance for Medical Image Computing (NA-MIC) and the Italian Association of Clinical Engineers.

Since 2023, he has been a visiting professor at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Karlsruhe, Germany) and a guest assistant professor at the University Medical Center Groningen - UMCG (Groningen, Netherlands); In 2021, he was awarded the title of 'Honorary Research Fellow' by the Department of Medical Physics & Biomedical Engineering, University College London (UCL), UK; Current scientific collaborations include Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital (Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA), German Cancer Research Center - DKFZ (Heidelberg, Germany), and European Institute of Oncology - IEO (Milan).
