Published research findings in a variety of high-quality international journals and conferences; attracted over $3.5 million in external funding from a wide number of sources, including tri-council granting agencies (both NSERC and SSHRC), government, the public sector, and non-profit organizations; serves as an associate editor for two journals (IEEE Access, BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making) and is a member of the programme committee for numerous international conferences.
Research Experience
Leads DaTALab, a lab focused on using modern approaches in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and real-time social media analysis to tackle complex issues. DaTALab houses one of the largest Twitter data repositories in North America, which has been used to explore topics such as public health, diabetes, addictions/recovery, and impacts of political messaging.
