Academic Achievements
- - Found that the hippocampus can combine physical and abstract variables into the same cognitive map.
- - Studied retinal responses to natural scenes are primarily driven by temporal variations through eye movements and gaze shifts.
- - Investigated mammalian visual circuits were shaped by evolution starting from the earliest phases of mammalian ancestry.
Research Experience
- Uses animal models (especially mice) learning to solve complex problems in virtual reality, combining the sciences of animal behavior in VR, neurophysiology, computation, and artificial intelligence to explore neural computations underlying perception.
Background
- Research interests include understanding how the brain processes perception, reasoning, and planning, attempting to link the psychology of these mental capacities with phenomena at a cellular level.
Miscellany
- Recruiting graduate students. Applications can be made through the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences or the UD Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Graduate Program.
