Developed widely used techniques for inverse simulation applied to rotorcraft; recent applications include developing evasion strategies for helicopter avoidance of RPG threats and the guidance and control of underwater vehicles; currently developing a fixed base flight simulator for rotorcraft piloted simulation studies.
Research Experience
Worked as a research assistant for 2 years funded by the Royal Aerospace Establishment; obtained a Royal Society University Research Fellowship to conduct independent research in the area of inverse simulation; joined the Department of Aerospace Engineering as a senior lecturer in 1993 and served as Head of the Department for 7 years starting from 2000; appointed as Head of the Aerospace Sciences Research Division in 2010; currently serving as the Chief Adviser of Studies (Engineering) within the School.
Education
Graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1983 with a 1st Class Honours Degree in Aeronautical Engineering; subsequently obtained a PhD in Aeronautical Engineering from the same university.
