Created the first generative text-to-image AI model in 2015; in November 2023, images from his text-to-image AI model were exhibited at Paris Photo and Frieze Gallery Space in London; several pieces have been acquired by the Worcester Art Museum in Massachusetts; the alignDRAW NFT collection was fully minted out on OpenSea and other major NFT platforms.
Research Experience
Worked on foundation models at Amazon Bedrock and conversational AI at Amazon Lex. During his Ph.D., he focused on iterative refinement for structured prediction and its applications to machine translation and molecule generation. As an undergraduate, he worked on unsupervised learning from videos and developed the first text-to-image generative model.
Education
He finished his Ph.D. at New York University, supervised by Kyunghyun Cho; he did an undergraduate degree in Computer Science at the University of Toronto, supervised by Ruslan Salakhutdinov.
Background
He is a Senior Applied Scientist at Amazon Web Services Fundamental Research Team. His research interests include iterative refinement as a general approach for structured prediction with applications to machine translation and molecule generation.
Miscellany
Enjoys developing SaaS applications in his spare time, such as Sourcely and Yomu.
