Resume (English only)
Academic Achievements
  • Presented two papers at ICML in Vancouver in July 2025: 'EARL-BO: Reinforcement Learning for Multi-Step Lookahead, High-Dimensional Bayesian Optimization' by Mujin Cheon and 'Certification for Differentially Private Prediction in Gradient-Based Training' by Philip Sosnin and Matt Wicker.
Research Experience
  • Began the BASF/Royal Academy of Engineering Senior Research Fellowship in Scale-Bridging Modelling and Optimisation in March 2024.
Background
  • Associate Professor (Senior Lecturer) in the Computational Optimisation Group (COG) within the Department of Computing, supported by the BASF / RAEng Senior Research Fellowship in Scale-Bridging Modelling and Optimisation. His research focuses on optimization and learning methods for sequential decision making under uncertainty, with particular emphasis on mixed-integer programming and statistical learning. These methods are applied to domains such as chemical engineering, artificial intelligence, process scheduling and control, demand-side management, and energy systems.
Miscellany
  • Celebrated the new year at the F1 Arcade with the van der Wilk group.
