Research Experience
Was a researcher at Queen’s University Belfast, leading data science research; involved in numerous projects funded by EPSRC, ESRC, MRC, EU Horizon 2020, Invest NI, Innovate UK, Royal Society, Royal Academy of Engineering, and industry; served as PC/OC chairs for several international conferences; regularly acted as peer reviewer for UK councils and international funding bodies, top international journals; served on editorial boards or as guest editor for several international journals; acted as external PhD examiner at universities in the UK and other countries.
Background
Currently a Professor in Artificial Intelligence at the School of Computing and Creative Technologies, UWE Bristol; member of the Computer Science Research Centre (CCRC). Current research interests center around data extraction, integration, linkage, and analytics (health, consumer, business, administrative, social media/Web, structured and unstructured data, privacy preservation); graph mining and social network analysis; and AI including intelligent autonomous systems (AI planning and BDI-based multi-agent systems, UAI). Prior to joining UWE Bristol, he was a member of the Knowledge and Data Engineering (KDE) research cluster in the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Queen's University Belfast, where he led research on the Data Science theme.
